My mom was kind enough to let us re-arrange and use her bedroom tonight. Things got really hot really fast. Since we needed full silence, we turned off the air conditioners in the house. Benny was using 1k, 650w, and 350w lights in a small bedroom. Man, this redrock M2 is a major light hog. There would be way too much light if I was using my Canon XL2, but the redrock does make the scenes that much better visually. For sound, we’re using a Seinheiser M66 boom Mic.

Karen Moore and Marco Naylor met for the first time and played a great husband and wife. We did several takes of the first scene in the bedroom and then took them to the footage to next room where I hooked up the Firestore to our MacPro. Low and behold something went wrong with the hard drive and some of the files were unusable. Luckily we have an HDV backup of the scene. We did our best to restore the files, for some reason, the video and sound were off sync about 27 seconds. Really weird. I can still use the footage though, but this just adds to my fear of hard drives for video production. I’ll still keep filming with it since it only takes like 5 to 10min to transfer footage to my MacPro. Beats the hell of capturing from tape, but its a good backup to have.More pictures at www.epfilm.org
